Photoshop Frustration and #7

Okay, so I've only had the program a day and I'm already frustrated.  I know, I just need to give it time and play with it....and I will.  I would be interested in hearing how my artist friends utilize Photoshop with their art.  My reason for purchasing the software is two-fold.  Obviously as an additional tool for my art, I hope to be able to manipulate images I've taken and merge things together or remove items that are too busy.  I'd also like to be able to take a color image and make it black and white...enhance the values so I have a better reference image to utilize while painting.  The second reason would be for creating digital scrapbook pages.  We have hundreds and hundreds of digital images stored on our computer and I'd like to start putting them into book form.  How do you use Photoshop?

Here is flower painting #7.  The background ended up being very high key.  I may just leave it alone at this point though.

  2. Very nice! My husband bought me Photoshop elements as one of my Christmas presents. I told him it was way above my abilities but he swears that he thinks I could learn. As of right now, I haven't scratched the surface. I even bought a dummy book but I am even dumber than that. I think I will put a frustration post on my blog and see what others say about it, maybe I will post some awful photos of mine that are still awful! Take care and if I figure out something to help, I will pass it along. :-)

  3. Gretchen-
First of all, good work on the watercolor! Secondly, I have gotten used to photoshop (takes a while) and use it almost every day. I use it mostly to crop photos and scans of my paintings, but it is great for resizing (pixels) paintings for posting. It is also great for changing the lighting on under/over exposed photos. You will get the hang of it!

  4. Thank you to everyone who has followed this challenge. I'm entering week 2 now.

Sheryl, I am bound and determined to get the hang of it. I'm going to try to fiddle with it every day.
