Well, that was interesting...

Wow, that winter storm gave us quite the wallop!  A good coating of ice and strong arctic winds left us without power for a good 16 hours.  That was nothing, compared to the power outages some experienced after Hurricane Ike blew through here a couple of years ago.  Some were without electricity for 4 days!  We were not one of those.

I did have a painting to share yesterday and just as I was ready to hit "publish post", our phone and Internet service bit the dust.  Mind you, this happened a few hours after our power was restored.  Needless to say, I was a bit frustrated.

So here are my two paintings (#2 and #3 of my 28 flowers in 28 days challenge).

  1. I love these, Gretchen! I am a big cosmos fan and you did a nice job!

  2. Lookin good Gretchen! I'm excited to follow along on these 28 days with you. SO fun. :)

  3. Always beautiful your flowers!

  4. Thanks Sheryl, I'm not so sure the cosmos turned out the way I had envisioned them, but I'm happy with them for now.

Thanks for following my February challenge Crystal, it's wonderful having followers checking in on my's what keeps me going!!

You're too kind Franz! Thank you!

  5. Beautiful flowers Gretchen, and I love the cosmos, the washes are wonderful, great background.

  6. Loved the drippy feel to the cosmos. Real character!
Gorgeous shadows in the white lily of the valley. Well done!

  7. Maria...I've discovered some really cool washes just by accident at times.

Pat...I love to incorporate drips. In fact, my Mom said I should add white drips to the Lily of the Valley painting. I'm not a big fan of using white watercolor paint, though. So I probably won't do that on this one. Maybe I'll try it in acrylic at some point.

  8. Very nice flowers! I hope the weather that you are having simmers down soon.

  9. Gretchen, both paintings are great! I will certainly follow your floral paintings in 28 days! What a treat for all of us who follow your blog!

  10. Lovely work Gretchen on both the Lily of the Valley and the Cosomos.

Hope you don't get any more power outages. I know how you feel when that happens.

  11. Tim, I've been very patient, but spring really needs to come soon!! Thanks for stopping by.

Christiane thank you for sticking with me during this crazy challenge. I'm typically not a daily painter, although I am enjoying painting every day.

Dors, thank you! I hope that's the last power outage we get for awhile. I've never been more appreciative of electricity and modern conveniences than after that episode.
