I gave my 9 year old son the simple task of writing thank you cards for the birthday gifts he received last month and he turned the task into a major project by choosing to paint each gift giver their card instead. (The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.)
Once he finished the thank yous, he moved on to snowflakes in a watercolor resist technique. He informed me he plans to sell these at the Christmas Bazaar where I will be selling my art as well. I fear he may run me out of business!
Gretchen, you have taught your son well, his cards are fabulous, he will be a good accompanying artist for your sale. I also love how Maddey, the dog painting turned out, a great portrait, a great gift.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that he took the time to create something for each person who gave him a birthday gift and now wants to go into business with the cards :) Isn't it fun to see your inspiration in your child!
ReplyDeleteWell done to your son! Lovely cards :)
ReplyDeleteThese cards are adorable Gretchen, place a few on Etsy; let see what happens. No kidding, they might become the next big hit...
ReplyDeleteKeep that little guy ticking :)
Irina
Thank you Maria. Per the advice from Irina, I've decided to list Carter's paintings on my Etsy shop. He's really having a good time with these.
ReplyDeleteRhonda, yes it's very enjoyable watching and sharing our joy in art.
Thank you Pat....I'll pass your kind words on to my son.
Irina....I'll let you know if we get any bites. So far, I have zero sales from Etsy, but I'm still hopeful. Maybe it's just a matter of time. I don't do any extra promoting of my shop outside of just rearranging it. I know you've had success, any secrets?
Wow! He is so talented!Keep him well supplied with paints :)
ReplyDeleteGretchen~ I am on ImageKind. I wasn't having much luck selling prints on Etsy, so I kept my shop there and tried ImageKind. You can join for free to download pics ect is really easy on there. (since I'm horrible with computers.) I've had a few sales there. They sell the print and offer mattes and frames. You can mark up your commission to whatever you want. Being that I battle ms ect., it was nice to not have to go mail my own prints all the time. I also set up a gallery for my daughter's art there. (Under me of course) Sorry this was so long...probably should have emailed you :)
Beautiful paintings, both yours and your son's. You are a gifted family.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes!
Just wanted to stop by and say Good Morning! Hope you have a wonderful day. :)
