I've completed my tree painting and I've decided it needs a better title than just "Tree". Or maybe not. I'd like your help in deciding. I've always wanted to allow my blog viewers the opportunity to name a painting and that opportunity has finally arrived.
Let me know what you think I should name this painting and on August 30 I'll consult with my art critics (that would be my two boys, ages 4 and 8) and we'll choose our favorite.
I can't wait to see what you come up with!
The dimensions of this painting are 10.5" by 14.5". To purchase this painting visit my Etsy shop at www.gretchensgifts.etsy.com or email me at gabjorn@embarqmail.com.
Thanks again for viewing and sharing my blog with family and friends.

ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful painting! I think the title should reflect how you felt when painting it, or what the tree means to you.
ReplyDeleteLovely blues! Title probably should have something blue in it, maybe "Into the Blue", as in the song that says into the wild blue yonder. Maybe that would describe the upward movement of the tree growth. Great WC from unusual angle.
ReplyDeleteKathy, thank you....I will keep that in mind while choosing a title. I'll have to contemplate what I was feeling while painting it.
ReplyDeleteJoann, it does have a very blue vibe, I agree. Once again, something to consider.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue/violet colors you've used. A good strong sense of striving upwards...I like Joann's choice of Into The Blue?
ReplyDeleteI love the angle of this! I think I could climb up this tree in dreamland. Makes me want to try painting a few (each on a different color scheme,) but I'm not much of a painter. I don't even know where to begin. I also like "into the blue"
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing a common theme in what everyone thinks this painting should be titled...."into the blue". Elizabeth, I feel the same way and was hoping other viewers did as well. Thank you.
ReplyDelete.......love the tree....would love to se it in water color using realistic colors......great the way it is ,though......just an idea for your next artistic adventure.......
ReplyDeleteYou painted the tree from a very difficult but interesting angle. I take an art class with watercolorist Jerry Stitt, AWS, every Thursday and he once critiqued a student's work who painted a subject from the angle looking up. It's difficult to pull off and also makes for a more interesting result. The only title I can think of is "Another Perspective". Using the word blue in the title may be too obvious.
ReplyDeletethis came out great! i find titles to be so personal. this is such a statement perspective of the tree. The climb ahead, great heights... it is always wonderful to climb a tree and sit in it as a child.
ReplyDeleteJean....thank you...my main concern upon taking this painting on was to be sure the "extreme" perspective came through, and I believe it has. Wow....Jerry Stitt's work is amazing. I am constantly learning about "famous" watercolor artits and I'm amazed at their talent. What a great opportunity you have to take a class from him on a daily basis......I need to know if he's ever in the midwest.
ReplyDeleteLiana....thank you! The naming of this piece has been challenging.....I've received some really terrific ideas.
ReplyDeleteYou have probably already named this incredible painting....I don't know why...but when I saw it I thought "Gentle Giant." I don't have any fancy way of explaining it...just popped in my head^_^
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments, I look forward to hearing from you! (Don't worry..I knew what you meant about the skunk ;))
